Summary:
The Director of Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting oversees the accuracy and compliance of the company’s financial reporting and accounting practices, particularly in relation to complex accounting standards and regulations. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the company’s accounting policy, financial statements, and reporting requirements, with a focus on ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Manage the financial reporting process, including the preparation of financial statements in compliance with US GAAP (including Monthly, Quarterly, and Year-End Reporting Commentary)
Act as the subject matter expert on US GAAP and SEC regulations for preparing and filing SEC reports and demonstrate a clear understanding of related authoritative literature governing financial reporting for public companies
Manage the development, implementation, and adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Prepare technical accounting memos and analysis as needed, including preparation and review of technical accounting items
Assist in ensuring compliance with new accounting standards and provide guidance to ensure proper accounting treatment
Collaborate with finance and operations teams to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of project accounting procedures for energy storage projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, inventory management, and reporting
Work closely with external auditors, preparing and providing necessary documentation and support to ensure a smooth and timely audit process
Provide technical accounting training to support the business in understanding the accounting implications relating to routine transactions
Manage the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements
Provide financial insights, guidance, and recommendations to support leadership in making informed and strategic decisions
Develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams, partners, and external stakeholders
Identify opportunities for process improvement within the financial reporting and technical accounting function.
Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
Mentor, supervise, and develop members of the accounting and finance team to ensure a high level of efficiency and expertise

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA certification required
8+ years of relevant accounting and financial reporting experience, preferably in the energy or energy storage industry
5+ years progressive managerial experience
Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting matters
Proven experience with financial statement preparation and SEC reporting
Strong business acumen, financial skills, and analytical abilities Strong leader that drives execution and builds the necessary capability to succeed; initiates action and commits to achieving business outcomes by taking accountability for goals
Strong project management skills, ability to drive multiple projects forward concurrently, effectively leverages resources to drive results and ability to create excellent and sustainable processes
Experience in dynamic companies undergoing significant change in a remote working environment
Always maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex accounting concepts to non-accounting colleagues
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with NetSuite ERP system a plus
