Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project specifications and blueprints, participate in pre-bid meetings, and assess the scope of work and necessary estimate components.
  • Develop comprehensive and detailed estimates along with supporting documentation for evaluation.
  • Request and review proposals from material suppliers, ensuring they meet project requirements and offer competitive pricing.
  • Explore various options and suggest the best value solutions considering cost, engineering requirements, quality, and material availability.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive and ethical relationships with project owners, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Support project operations for awarded contracts, which may involve estimating and pricing change orders and resolving any contractual issues.
  • Collaborate with the Proposal Coordinator to create complete and professional proposals, including all necessary information such as schedules, project narratives, and organizational charts.
  • Generate comprehensive conceptual proposals to aid in business development and client retention.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of the existing estimating productivity database.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to independently prepare thorough and accurate proposals.
  • Strong grasp of conceptual estimating, various estimating techniques, and cost management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain bid details, exclusions, and clarifications to owners and subcontractors.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing responsibilities effectively.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project or other scheduling software.

Required Experience:

  • A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Construction Management is preferred; a PE certification is advantageous.
  • Has 5 - 7 years of estimating experience.
