Description
Responsibilities:
- Guide projects through each phase of the new product development process.
- Continuously evaluate technical risks and feasibility, including manufacturability when applicable.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to update project costs and refine the overall business case.
- Oversee the project lifecycle from concept to launch, including advanced prototyping, design, fabrication, testing, data analysis, and final reporting.
- Organize meetings to discuss production costs, assembly processes, design accuracy, durability, and performance.
- Engage with vendors to gather and review information, ensure compatibility, establish selection criteria, and manage purchase orders.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including customer communications, test data, and timelines.
- Prepare technical reports for customer contracts and internal R&D, based on data collection and analysis.
- Interface with customers to request information, clarify details, provide status updates, and address inquiries.
- Adhere to safety standards and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Develop and implement new testing and analysis techniques, both hardware and software.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Proven mechanical aptitude through formal education or practical experience.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Proficiency in computer applications: Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
- CAD experience, with Autodesk Inventor preferred.
- Experience in customer-facing roles is advantageous.
- Advanced analysis skills preferred (e.g., FEA, CFD, simulation).
- Strong background in GD&T and mechanical design preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; technical writing experience a plus.
- Solid mechanical aptitude with experience in automotive, electrical, or hydraulics being beneficial.
- Strong organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills.
