Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Transfer Scientist II to join our team at Abbott Laboratories. As a key member of our manufacturing and product development team, you will be responsible for providing advanced technical support to ensure the successful development and production of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Characterize the performance of materials, processes and products.
  • Coordinate the work of other manufacturing and/or research engineers/scientists and technicians.
  • Maintain good manufacturing/laboratory practices (GMP or GLP), orderly and accurate paperwork, quality systems, and maintaining the integrity of manufactured product.
  • Make advanced technically based decisions that are important to present and future products and is responsible for disseminating the technical findings to other functional areas of the company.
  • Understand Design of Experiments (DOE) principles and follow the scientific method.
  • Responsible for leading and managing product/process testing projects.
  • Support Customer Complaint investigation.
  • Support Tracking and Trending Analysis Program.
  • May conduct original research that furthers the objectives of the company.
  • May conduct root cause analysis on product failures, including proposals for preventive actions.
  • Schedule test programs and management of workload to help assure timely and satisfactory completion of projects.
  • Maintain good verbal and written communication skills and provide timely and accurate reporting both internally and externally.
  • Monitor scientific/medical literature relevant to innovative research and testing objectives.
  • Consult with and provide technical evaluations for other departments (Manufacturing, Development, etc.).
  • Support R&D/Marketing with product development and consultation.
  • May work with test requestors to develop test programs, formulate test protocols, and choose appropriate test equipment. This will include supervision of fabrication or selection of new equipment as needed.
  • Able to work independently to further goals and objectives of the department.
Requirements
  • Master's degree (MA or MS) in biology, immunology, or chemistry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years laboratory experience including chromatography.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in biology, immunology, or chemistry.
  • Familiarity with national and international testing standards related to mechanical and chemical testing.

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
