Position Summary: The Senior Estimator handles the day-to-day operations of the department as it relates to the estimation and preparation of proposals for projects.

The Senior Estimator is the subject matter expert in concepts and practices of estimating and assists Estimators in the department.

This position also carries out responsibilities in the functional areas of quantity takeoff, material and equipment pricing, written proposals, sales calls, and client relationships.

Under minimal supervision, the Senior Estimator defines a realistic cost of a project using the tools and processes defined in the Company Standard Operating Procedures. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with little to no supervision. This position requires an exceedingly well organized and flexible person who enjoys the challenges of supporting a small office of diverse people and programs.

This person should have the ability to work independently and foster a team-oriented, collaborative environment, work under pressure, be proactive, and express a high level of professionalism. Expert level verbal and written communication skills, strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, and attention to detail are also important. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Mentor, train, assist and manage Estimators in the estimating department, when assigned. Read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Request material and equipment pricing from vendors and suppliers. Prepare detailed, timely and accurate cost estimates and write detailed proposals as required to meet deadlines. Complete takeoff using standard estimating procedure. Review estimates to ensure they meet business unit objectives. Work closely with material vendors for pricing and product specifications. Engage with customers to ensure understanding of scope and to address scope questions. Review contract and scope of work. Produce list of quoted materials. Complete bid checklist, summary, and preliminary schedule. Review estimates with other departments and Branch Manger prior to presenting estimate to customer to ensure accuracy in accordance with Company procedures. Support management team with final presentation to customer. Answer detailed questions explaining how the estimate was derived. Various items assigned by Director of Estimating, Branch Manager, Director of Operations, or President. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Visit clients to build strong personal and business relationships. Flexibility to attend client and industry events. Manage all job-related documents including paper and electronic. Perform project site visits and attend project meetings as assigned. Prepare reports for Estimating Department staff or management as directed. Manage essential duties effectively by consistently driving for quality, profitable, safe, and timely results. Working Environment & Physical Activities:

This position will be working primarily indoors in a smoke-free environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time while performing the essential functions.

Specific vision abilities required include vision for color, peripheral, close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator in the construction field Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Outlook Superior verbal and written communication skills Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Ability to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing Must be able to read plans, understand specifications, and drawing details. Ability to do routine business math calculations including computation of sales costs and quotes. Ability to calculate the estimated time and materials necessary to complete projects Must be able to demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines and daily deliverables Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timeliness through analytical and problem-solving capabilities Must have solid understanding of commercial construction terms and procedures The ability to understand the needs of business accounts through conversational interaction and converting those needs into sales. Ability to communicate to the Project Managers the description of work so that the assigned work meets the quality, time frame and budget expectations of the customer and Company. High School Diploma Preferred Qualifications:
