Materials Testing Engineer

Primary Responsibilities
+ This position has technical responsibility for mechanical, macroscopic, and metallographic testing at all ATI Specialty Materials sites.
+ Provides technical support to the Laboratories with regard to equipment upgrades, maintenance, and outages.
+ Develop Laboratory Quality Management Systems and procedures.
+ Review/Interpret material/quality specifications.
+ Creates and revises written work instructions.
+ Develops qualification criteria for operators.
+ Supports central Quality Assurance functions including internal, customer, and third-party audits
+ Responsible for complying with round robin and proficiency testing requirements
+ Actively involved with continuous improvement efforts.
+ Provides technical support to other ATI laboratories.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science technical degree is preferred, or equivalent years of experience. Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science Engineering degree is a plus.
+ Experience with nickel and titanium base alloys is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities::
+ Oracle experience preferred
+ Excellent Microsoft Office skills
+ Communicates progress and results effectively both verbally and through written technical reports and presentations. Communication extends across business disciplines.
+ Ongoing contact with others outside their immediate work group, including Quality, Technology, Research and Development, and Operations
+ Demonstrated ability to identify and implement continuous improvement in all areas of the business
+ Strong problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
+ Ability to apply analytical thinking to address complex problems based on product and process data
