Position Summary/Objective

The Regional Business Development/Sales Representative will cover the assigned region to promote and sell the distribution and clinical management models for therapies needed to treat rare and complex chronic diseases referred to as Specialty Pharmacy. Therapies include: Addiction, Behavioral Health, Women's Health, Hepatitis, Neurology and others. The Regional Business Development/Sales Representative is responsible for selling the Value Specialty Pharmacy Service model to physicians and payers who treat conditions that utilize specialty drug products. The Regional Business Development/Sales Representative works closely with the internal operations team to ensure our dual-accredited tradition of providing excellent patient services.

The successful applicant will: demonstrate strong knowledge of therapeutic conditions and treatment protocols used within Specialty Pharmacy niches; serve as a valuable resource to pharmacists, physicians, and others providing access to Value Specialty Pharmacy's services; be able to identify and partner with stakeholders who impact healthcare decision making in the specialty pharmacy industry at local levels including healthcare providers, physician networks, hospitals, IDNs, and large employer groups; and be able to apply an understanding of specialty pharmacy Industry's current healthcare and patient practices.

The Regional Business Development/Sales Representative will also be responsible for maintaining a regular call cycle.

Essential Functions

1- Promote Value Specialty Pharmacy's services.

2- Calls on community pharmacies, physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities within an assigned territory to capture new business referrals, manage existing accounts concerning therapeutic services and products provided.

3- Collaborates with pharmacy, payer and manufacturer partners on business strategy.

4- Assists and communicates regularly with pharmacy operation personnel to help drive referral admissions. In addition to working with National Account Managers (NAM's) In implementing Managed Care (MCO) contracts to drive local "pull-through" business. These efforts include products and services with HMOs, PPOs, and Self-Insured Administration Employer Groups.

5- Attends and participates in local, state, and national conferences/exhibits for targeted audiences (I.e. physicians, nurses, support groups, etc.). Participates and assists in planned internal sales meetings.

6- Some overnight and weekends are required for attendance at conferences and travel.

7- In compliance with HIPAA guidelines, gathers and reports, specified patient health information to assist with treatment, payment, and health care operations.

8- Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.

9- Develops territory sales forecasts based on completed profile of assigned pharmacies and physician offices. Tracks admissions and referrals from referral sources. Responsible for maintaining and documenting marketing expenditures and submitting electronic expense reports on a timely basis.

10- Self-Motivated. Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of one's ability using his or her own drive or initiative.

12- Communication. Ability to communicate effectively with other health care professionals.

13- Presentation Skills. Ability to effectively present Information publicly.

14- All activities should align with the focus on promotion of independent pharmacy practice

Work Environment

This position operates in a personal office, automobile, and at physician offices and clinics. Extensive travel (80-90%) is required for the position. The Business Regional Development/Sales Representative position receives little or no supervision.

Physical demands typical of this position

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods of time, drive a car, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, cell phone, telephone and other office equipment. Requires close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures and view a computer screen, as well as mental concentration.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.

Travel

This position requires 80-90% travel to physician offices, clinics, and pharmacies. Incumbents must reside within territory.

Required Education and Experience

Clinical License or Bachelor Degree in Business or Healthcare-related field

Three years of healthcare-related sales experience, direct sales experience to healthcare professionals

Experience in Pharmaceutical or Specialty Pharmacy sales

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Experience working with specialty or chronic disease states

Proficient in MS Office suite and data applications

Security Clearance/Background Check
