Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani, LLC, now a division of TranSystems, is excited to announce we are actively searching for a Bridge Design Engineer to join our award-winning team.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Designing structural components of bridges, box culverts, retaining walls and related structures
  • Developing details of bridge components for contract drawings
  • Calculating quantities and developing construction cost estimates
  • Reviewing shop drawings
  • Assisting on bridge inspections
  • Writing Bridge Inspection Reports
  • Performing Load Ratings
  • Participating in project meetings and writing minutes of such meetings
  • Designing and/or inspecting other types of structures such as light standards, sign supports, etc.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 0 to 4 years of relevant design experience
  • EIT required
  • Must be knowledgeable and proficient in basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to learn computer programs such as Merlin Dash, Conspan, DESCUS, RC Pier, STAAD, L-Pile, etc.
  • The ability to learn various codes such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, etc.
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

  • Knowledge of Microstation a plus

Work Environment

  • Must be able to lift ladder, assist in moving boat, and perform other light physical activity
  • Travel with overnight stay may be required occasionally.
  • Occasional response to emergency situations at any time or day may be expected
