Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an SE-4 Space Systems Engineer for the TMAS 2 96 CTG Task Order, supporting the 45 TS / TGAB.

Our test team is searching for new members that can help us conduct command and control testing on Space C2 and surveillance systems and the Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (AF DCGS). If you enjoy working in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment, learning new mission areas, this is the place for you. We provide many opportunities to learn ranging from on-the-job training with other team members to formal courses for unique technology areas.

This position provides support to the 45th Test Squadron Space and Intel Flight at Eglin AFB, FL. This position does require in office work, but not 100 percent of the time. When executing a test, typically 100 percent office work. Tests can range in length from days to weeks. When not testing, office work varies depending on the current requirements. Currently 2-3 days per week in the office, when not testing. Tests schedule is typically 1-2 weeks per quarter but varies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Masters Degree in a technical field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant technical experience. Additional experience may be substituted for education.
  • Active Secret clearance is required and must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship.
  • Relevant technical and testing experience on the following systems: passive radars or phased array radars
  • Experience with analyzing Ground Based RADAR data to validate requirements
  • Ability to understand Ground Based RADARs processing and develop scenarios to validate them.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages Matlab, Fortran, Java, Python, C/C++, or with software development.
  • Ability to interface with prime contractors developing the system under test (SUT) regarding test objectives, schedules, budgets, and methods of test.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team and to lead and direct the work of others.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Proficiency in the use and integration of MS Office applications.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Experience as a Radar Operator and/or Remote Sensing and Intelligence.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with Program Management.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with Air Force and Space Force Testing or other DoD test agency concepts, procedures and methodologies.
  • Experience related to DOD C4ISR system acquisition, systems engineering, and test engineering.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with AGILE Software Development and test concepts, procedures and methodologies.
  • Experience interfacing with development contractors regarding test objectives, schedules, budgets, and methods of test.
  • A current and active Top Secret Security Clearance with Special Compartmented Information (SCI) access is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as chat technologies to enhance personal productivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides technical leadership and frequently serves as the technical authority for ground based radars, USSF Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Space Command and Control (C2) systems.
  • Conducts data analysis and applies knowledge of engineering technology under the direction of engineering staff. These tasks include test and evaluation, test support, logistics, sustainment, operations analyses, technical studies, and various analyses and support activities including program/system security.
  • Assists in the development of system requirements, performance measures, test phase entry/exit criteria, and analysis of design constraints functional capabilities, and metrics.
  • Supports AGILE software development and testing in contractor facilities.
  • Supports DT&E, Risk Reduction Testing (RRT) and certification for test readiness; identifies deficiencies, verifies compliance with specifications and standards, and assesses stability of various system configurations.
  • Supports senior engineers when interacting with System Program Offices, other services, and development contractors.
  • Prepares, executes, reviews, and analyzes test plans, procedures, metrics, and reports throughout the software development life cycle. Develops and writes Test Plans, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), test cases, test objectives/procedures, test directives, technical or letter reports, analysis and review of requirements, and other test process documents as required in the conduct of testing.
  • Coordinates schedules, pre-and post-test activities, logistics of test planning, and test results.
  • Travels up to 20% of time to contractors' facilities, test sites, and other locations (OCONUS and CONUS).
