Position Description

Summary/Objective 

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations.
  1. Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints.
  2. Coaches, counsels and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
  3. Represents the company for any unemployment claims.
  4. Facilitates or provides training (including orientation) to the workforce.
  5. Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
  6. Interviews, screens and recruits job applicants to fill entry-level, professional and technical job openings.
  7. Reviews applications and interviews applicants to match experience with specific job-related requirements.
  8. Represents management in investigating, answering and settling grievances, by arranging and scheduling grievance hearings between union personnel, supervisor and the management team.
  9. Conducts new-hire orientation.
  10. Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  11. Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
  12. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  13. Maintains human resource records and compiles reports

Supervisory Responsibility

Position Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or a related field or equivalent education, training and experience.
  • Two to four years of experience in human resource generalist role. 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • PHR or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SPHR or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential.
Position Instructions

It all began with Leroy Penhall's realization of an opportunity during Anaheim, California's "Orange Grove Development Boom" of the 1950s. He purchased his first gas-powered diamond saw, which allowed him to carry out concrete work with accuracy and speed. Penhall has since grown to offer a comprehensive selection of concrete services, including scanning, cutting, sawing, breaking, and removal.
