Position Summary:

The Sr. Buyer will ensure that the plant has the necessary materials, parts, supplies, equipment and tools required to maintain an effective and cost-efficient operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Process requisitions and prepare purchase orders for supplies and equipment.

Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.

Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.

Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers.

Negotiate contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.

Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.

Recognise and initiate changes when business conditions warrant it.

Demonstrate a working knowledge of current laws and regulations that affect the business environment.

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external customers

Respect plant and company ethical values and policies in dealing with suppliers and customers.

Negotiate innovative solution to problems and try different methods to deal with problems and opportunities.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred

3-5 years experience in purchasing within an automotive/manufacturing setting is required

Knowledge of production and maintenance equipment

Additional Skills Desired:

Team player mentality, positive attitude and strong work ethic is a must to be successful in this position

Ability to work in a constrained environment (deadlines, costs, able to work under pressure) and ability to drive multiple projects in parallel, which interfere with each other

Ability to listen and sense of service (customer, team, etc.)

Ability to fix the direction and to drive the execution after alternatives analysis with team, demonstrates accountability

Ability to be flexible and to adjust priorities as necessary to meet changing conditions

Analytical and ability to synthesise with other departments when necessary
