Job: Buyer / Planner – Manufacturing

Location: Franklin Park, IL (2 days hybrid flexibility after 90 days)

Opportunity: We are seeking a motivated Buyer / Planner to join our team and contribute to the fabrication and production of engineered-to-order products. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will play a key role in managing inventory, sourcing materials, and supporting production. This position offers autonomy, respect, and the chance to engage directly with senior management, making an immediate impact on our manufacturing capabilities and capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain inventory levels to support production needs.
  • Research, analyze, and forecast buying trends, market conditions, and product availability.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and wholesalers.
  • Assess financial risks associated with purchases and ensure cost-effective sourcing.
  • Attend trade shows and exhibitions to stay updated on industry trends and new products.
  • Manage MRP planning parameters, including costing, lot sizes, lead times, and days of supply.
  • Execute MRP signals and convert them into raw material purchase orders.
  • Coordinate production planning and detailed schedules with manufacturing and third-party suppliers.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of purchasing and planning master data for assigned materials and products.

Ideal Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with custom made-to-order manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Strong negotiation skills with suppliers and experience in strategic sourcing.
  • Proficiency in managing inventory and understanding MRP systems.
  • Analytical skills to research and forecast market trends, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Familiarity with ERP-based financial systems; Infor XA experience
