Position: Powertrain Controls Systems Engineer

Duration: 12 Month Contract + possible extensions

Location: Dearborn, MI hybrid schedule (in office 2 days a week)

Compensation: $40-$55/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of experience with Controls System Design
  • Strong understanding of Electrified Controls Systems
  • Experience creating quality documents such as FMEAs Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagram, Interface Matrix, etc.
  • Strong understanding of programming languages such as C, MATLAB, Simulink, etc.
  • Experience with data recording tools such as ATI or CANalyzer
  • Experience in testing (spec tests, HIL, SIL)
  • Effective ability to explain technical requirements and gain alignment on solutions
  • Valid Drivers license

Day to Day:

We are looking for a Powertrain Controls Systems Engineer to join one of our automotive clients in Dearborn, MI. The person in this position will be responsible for analyzing the functional design, failure modes, error states, noises and control factors for Hybrid and Electric Powertrains. The focal point of this position is going to include developing quality documents such as FMEAs.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Develop Electrified Powertrain Control System work products that coordinate actions and High-Level Functions between modules and subsystems to meet vehicle level and Feature attributes such as:
  • Functional requirements
  • Quality Documents (Boundary Diagrams, FMEA, P-Diagram, Interface Matrix)
  • Design Validation Method (DVM) Test Specification
  • Design Validation Plan and Report (DVP&R) Test Report
  • Software in the Loop (SIL)/ Hardware in the Loop (HIL) test development and automation
  • Perform System level testing in vehicle, on breadboard or using Software/Hardware in the Loop
  • Submit Communication Network Interface Design requests to identify signals transmitted and received by vehicle control modules (CAN, Services, Ethernet)
  • Analyze vehicle communication data and ECU diagnostics
  • Support Functional Safety tasks where necessary
  • Support control system quality/field issue root cause investigation and issue resolution
  • Perform system simulation modeling (if necessary)
