The position of the Product Development Engineer listens to the voice of our customers and conducts the appropriate engineering activities to commercialize new products. The activities include DOEs (Design of Experiments), testing and validation, and coordinating relevant support to successfully engineer new products for mass production. Duties: Successfully engineer and launch new products into manufacturing according to customer and company standards and requirements. Serve as a critical point of contact to design, business development and technical teams regarding product development activities. Collaborate with process experts, material suppliers and customers to efficiently facilitate product development activities. Manage, facilitate, coordinate, and motivate our innovation partners to create collaborative product and process development solutions. Collaborate with Shawmut’s Innovation’s laboratory to develop sufficient test plans to support product development. Coordinate and update company stakeholders of new product development activities. Stakeholders will include the executive team, business development, supply chain management, program management and other relative functional areas. Align product engineering activities with Shawmut’s OKRs (Objectives, Key Results). Participate in stage gate reviews of key product development projects. Requirements 4 year technical and engineering degree. 1-3 years’ experience in a related engineering, technical, or technical sales field concentrated in new process and product development. Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design for Manufacturing (DFMS) a plus. Textile Engineering a plus. Software efficiency – MS Office suite, Outlook, etc. Statistical software experience a plus – Minitab, Jump. Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
