Summary:

Plans, directs, manages, controls, staffs and supervises the activities of the Retail Branch by setting clear and concise sales & service expectations and communicating desired behaviors necessary to sell bank products & services. Provides guidance and assistance to staff within the branch to ensure the achievement of the bank's deposit and consumer loan goals coupled with defined customer service expectations. Participates in community affairs to increase the banks visibility and to enhance new and existing business opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Management and Supervision of Branch

  • Responsible for the coaching and modeling of interactions with customers (both internal and external) using The Chesapeake Experience
  • Coaches team to confidently (through a consultative approach) share digital banking options that enhance and extend the service that retail branches provide.
  • Encourages an innovative What if mindset within the branch team by encouraging ideas that improve or enhance what we do and/or how we do it.
  • Generates new business through sales calls on existing customers and prospects with internal partners not limited to but including Business Development Officers
  • Accepts and processes consumer loan applications
  • Reviews loan delinquencies on a weekly basis
  • Supervises the activities of the branch staff including determining workload and delegating assignments
  • Represents Chesapeake Bank at special events, bank marketing activities and community projects
  • Matches staff expense and staffing levels to customer needs
  • Leads monthly staff sales meetings
  • Assist with branch audits
  • Handles customer problems and complaints; counsels customers with special needs or requests
  • Maintains and stays abreast of security policies and procedures, including dual control
  • Supervises employees in vault operations and procedures
  • Ensure employees complete all assigned training courses in a timely manner and encourage cross training on other responsibilities
  • Maintains knowledge of branch policies and procedures with respect to approving checks, overdrafts, overrides, endorsements, etc.
  • Processes CSA work when necessary
  • Supervises CSA in preparation and distribution of monthly branch reports
  • Completes quarter end reports in a timely manner for branch manager incentive program
  • Ensures financial institution maintains compliance with Community Reinvestment Act and Equal Employment Opportunity Regulations
  • Approves scheduling of employees for vacation, sick leave, or in-house training
  • Approves branch bills and sends to accounts payable for processing in a timely manner
  • Maintains brand expectations for interior and exterior of the branch
  • Interview and hires new employees; to include coaching, developing staff, annual reviews and salary/bonus recommendations
  • Communicates on a regular basis with Regional Retail Manager
  • Prepares annual branch budget and reviews the branch expenses on a monthly basis for possible cost savings measures
  • Understand role as defined by the three lines of defense to maintain a compliance culture that includes risk management processes.

Miscellaneous Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report all leave (vacation, sick, etc.) to Regional Retail Manager
  • Ability to work all branch hours, including weekends and evenings, if required
  • Availability to employees (nights, weekends, etc.)
  • Call or send thank you letters to new customers

Additional Comments:

This position includes all of the above functions but is not limited to these functions because of day-to-day variance in the operation of the branch.

Requirements:

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3 plus years of employment in a financial institution or equivalent experience

  • Supervision Experience Preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal and supervisory skills

  • Computer literate; working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and other customized software.
