JOB SUMMMARY

Under the general direction of the Benefits Manager the incumbent will perform premium accounting and auditing for employee group health and welfare plans, assist with benefits administration and submission of contributory vendor files.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

Level I - Entry Level Individual Contributor (Less than 3 years)
  • Support monthly audit for group health and welfare plan statements for all group coverage.
  • Assist with audit and preparation of monthly life and disability premium payments.
  • Provide audit results to Benefits Specialist/HR Generalist for corrections of employee data records.
  • Provide backup support for other key benefits functions and initiatives as required.
  • Reconcile vendor error reports and carrier inquiries and provide support for any resolutions.
  • Reconcile vendor invoices to system reports and process payments.
  • Assist with reconciliations and research matters as needed to resolve outstanding employee premiums.
  • Assist with preparing and completing funding request for service contracts.
  • Support reconciliation of business group health premiums and employee paid premium admin fees.
  • Assist with preparation and submittal of weekly vendor files and required contributory funding requests.
Level II - Experienced Individual Contributor (More than 3 years)

Must be able to consistently perform Level I & II duties.
  • Support monthly audit for group health and welfare plan statements for all group coverage.
  • Audit and prepare monthly life and disability premium payments.
  • Provide audit results to Benefits Specialist/HR Generalist for corrections of employee data records.
  • Provide backup support for other key benefits functions and initiatives as required.
  • Resolve vendor error reports and carrier inquiries.

  • Complete funding request for service contracts.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Level I
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or college course work preferred.
  • Basic experience within human resources; benefits accounting/auditing, or related client work in a high volume, client centered environment.
  • Basic knowledge of excel, accounting systems, procedures, tools, practices, and standard benefit financial reports.
  • Intermediate problem analysis and resolution.
  • Basic working knowledge of project management concepts.
Level II
  • Associates Degree (in Human Resources, Accounting or related field) or equivalent, and 5 or more years of related experience.
  • Experience must include benefits accounting/auditing or related client work and experience in a high volume, client centered environment.
  • Strong knowledge of excel, accounting systems, procedures, tools, practices, and standard benefit financial reports.
  • Problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and tactical level.
  • Project management skills.
