Aston Carter is working with a large company in the Kansas City area that is seeking to hire a Senior Payroll Accountant with a background in payroll and accounting. Job Description:

+ Analyze, post and review payroll and benefit expenses to the general ledger in compliance with GAAP and IFRS.

+ Complete and streamline complex reconciliations for payroll related balance sheet accounts including accrued salaries, severance garnishments, PTO, fringe related benefits, bonus plans, payroll clearing and suspense accounts.

+ Create reports, analytics, and related variance commentary for Sr. leadership for financial review meetings used to drive business decisions and external reporting.

+ Responsible for reviewing and testing SOX controls.

+ Collaborate and work cross functionally with External Reporting and Accounting Policy teams to ensure regulatory compliance to create, maintain and review labor related external disclosures.

+ Assumed additional responsibility of Accounting including prepaids, contracts, accruals, commitments and reclasses.

+ Own and drive accuracy for employee benefits accounting including analysis of fringe related accounts and partnering with FP&A, Benefits, Actuarial partners, and other stakeholders to ensure benefits are accurately reserved and minimize over/under accruals.

+ Led multiple projects including ERP implementation.

+ Lead testing, wrote requirements, logged defects, and provided technical support and functional expertise for internal and external audit requests.

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Bachelors degree required

+ 5+ years of G/L accounting experience required

+ Multi-billion dollar company experience required

+ Strong understanding of payroll processing

+ Large ERP system experience required (JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
