A large and prestigious business management firm seeks a Music Audit Director to join their dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for an audit professional with music industry experience.

Responsibilities:

The Audit Director will be responsible for overseeing a team of auditors in executing royalty compliance procedures of record labels and music publishers on behalf of our diverse client base which includes unions/guilds, recording artists and songwriters. Additional responsibilities will include developing/managing the audit program, writing and issuing audit reports, settling audit reports as well as delegating and reviewing staff work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required as due to substantial client interaction as well as the ability to work with others.

  1. Overseeing all aspects of the audit process for record label and music publisher audits
  2. Overseeing planning and fieldwork procedures
  3. Designing audit programs tailored specifically to individual client needs
  4. Reviewing, summarizing and interpreting financial provisions in complex music industry agreements
  5. Preparing databases and analyzing large datasets using Excel and/or Access/SQL
  6. Analyzing calculations presented on royalty statements for compliance with financial terms in the relevant agreements
  7. Identifying potential issue areas and calculating/quantifying understated royalties as per agreement terms
  8. Training, supervising and reviewing staff test work
  9. Communicating effectively with auditees, clients and other third parties
  10. Preparing written audit report complete with supporting schedules and claim calculations
  11. Conducting audit settlements
  12. Preparing audit budgets and conducting practice development
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business required
  2. Minimum of 15 years of audit experience required with 10+ years of supervisory experience. Music industry and/or royalty experience a plus
