Argo Navis School is in search of dynamic and innovative educators who are passionate about transforming the educational landscape. Our institution is dedicated to moving beyond conventional teaching methods, focusing on a curriculum that is both research-based and creatively engaging.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Spanish Music Instructor to provide comprehensive music education for students in grades K-8. This role includes leading the school's chorus and various musical ensembles. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Spanish and committed to our dual-language initiative, conducting all classes in Spanish. This position offers a unique chance to spearhead a dual-immersion music program and contribute to its expansion into the high school level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver general music education for K-8 students, covering theory, harmony, appreciation, history, and ensemble participation.
- Utilize a diverse repertoire of music literature, ensuring selections are suitable for the age and skill levels of students.
- Provide private music lessons and facilitate group lessons.
- Adapt the music curriculum to cater to the diverse needs of individual students and the overall student body.
- Establish and uphold standards of student behavior to create a productive environment during practices, rehearsals, and performances.
- Assess each student's musical development and their contributions to group performances, fostering an inclusive atmosphere.
- Maintain clear communication with parents and school staff regarding individual student progress.
- Ensure the proper care and responsibility for school-owned musical instruments and equipment.
- Collaborate with the Head of School and staff to provide musical programs for school events and seasonal celebrations.
Qualifications:
- Proficient instrumental skills, particularly in piano and guitar.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 25-30 lbs, and engage in activities such as walking, squatting, kneeling, and sitting on the floor to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of a criminal background check.
- Current health vaccinations and tests as mandated by relevant health authorities.
Employment Type: Full-time, Contract
Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000
