LQ Construction Inc is actively seeking and pursing a seasoned estimator to come on board and lead & build our estimating department.
Position Overview
As director of estimating you will represent LQ Construction with the upmost standards, respect, integrity & firmness. You will be responsible for ensuring all of our customers get there bids within a timely manner, ensuring accurate takeoffs, responsible for building a project budget, reducing material waste thus bringing down cost ensuring savings to the customer.
Responsibilities
- Setting goals: Establishing goals for the estimating team, including close percentage requirements and gross margin expectations.
- Creating budgets and estimates: Preparing accurate estimates that include labor, material, and subcontract costs.
- Analyzing proposals: Reviewing and approving proposals and budget preparations.
- Managing performance: Overseeing the estimating department and managing performance.
- Negotiating: Resolving cost estimating and pricing issues.
- Understanding construction costs: Considering the impact of time and location on construction costs and incorporating them into estimates.
- Communicating: Articulating risks and opportunities to management.
- Working in teams: Closely working with purchasing & construction to ensure and set a budget.
Required Skills & qualifications.
- 10+ years of experience as a shell construction estimator.
- In depth knowledge of purchasing principals, strategies & best practices.
- Strong skills in budgeting, cost optimization & negotiation.
- Analytical mindset with excellent communication & interpersonal traits.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft 365.
- Proficiency in accounting software like QB, Sage & Oracle.
- Willingness to work in a fast paced environment.
