The mission of the Human and Community Services Division (HCSD) is to support families and communities by promoting employment and providing the assistance necessary to help families and individuals meet basic needs and work their way out of poverty.
This Budget Analyst position performs professional consultative, analytical, and financial work for the fiscal and operational bureaus within HCSD.In coordination with management, this position forecasts expenses, performs preliminary analysis for budget preparation, and develops and monitors HCSD's vast and complex budgets.This includes existing programs and any new initiatives that arise.The current major programs within the Fiscal Bureau include the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Block Grant, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid Eligibility, and the Office of Public Assistance (OPA). This position reports directly to the Budget Analyst Supervisor.

Qualifications
Qualifications for this Career Opportunity
- Knowledge of budgeting, governmental accounting, and analytical techniques
- Advanced Excel spreadsheet and budget development skills
- Ability to use personal computer applications in writing reports, processing payment requests, analyzing and forecasting program budgets, managing contracts, and preparing statistical reports.
- Meet minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field
- Three years progressively responsible experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial management
- SABHRS knowledge preferred
- Other combinations of directly related education and directly related experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis
