Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

The Quality Engineer is responsible for driving processes to ensure the delivery of products meeting stringent quality standards. The role is responsible for driving root cause analysis of both internal and external defects via the 8D method and ensuring robust corrective actions are in place to prevent recurrence. The Quality Engineer will also support the Quality Management System, proactively enhance it and support internal audits to ensure compliance. The role is instrumental in elevating quality practices and fostering a culture of excellence within High Point manufacturing site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under direction of Quality Manager identify and drive processes and system improvements to ensure the delivery of products that meet stringent quality standards.
  • Generate quality reporting to both Business Unit and Corporate teams.
  • Via robust data analysis identify key improvement points in both manufacture and product design.
  • Promote the quality system within the team, ensuring adherence to quality elements, philosophy, and procedures.
  • Liaise with Global Innovation Team (GIT), Quality Assurance and Production to ensure adherence to new product introduction and Management of Change procedures.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures and systems to enhance and uphold manufacturing quality.
  • In conjunction with quality manager ensure all manufacturing employees are well-versed in quality philosophy, manual, and procedures, providing necessary training.
  • Lead root cause analysis of both internal and external product defects ensuring robust containment and long-term corrective actions.
  • Analyze and trend site defect data providing site Quality manager with recommendations and path forwards for improvement.
  • Support customer and internal audits, ensuring compliance with quality standards and systems.
  • Provide assistance, advice, and information to customers, suppliers, sales, and internal departments regarding product quality.
  • Adhere to corporate, site, and laboratory policies/procedures related to personal conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), and product Safety & Regulatory standards.
  • Attend and support site leadership meetings as required.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • A Bachelor's Degree plus related internship/s or experience, preferably in related engineering or science field.
  • Experience using 8D problem solving methodology and structured root cause analysis.
  • Experience analyzing data for metrics, reporting, and part of root cause analysis using software such as Excel, Minitab and similar)
  • Experience with Quality basics such as: (MSA, SPC, FMEA, basic stats and graphs, control plan, capability studies)
  • Proficient with computer applications including MS-Office Suite.
  • Experience working collaboratively and cross functionally, and effectively within a diverse population and achieving desired results.
  • Experience with the requirements and expectations of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
Preferred:
  • Knowledge and experience of paints and coatings. (desired)
  • Proficient with SAP S/4 enterprise system. (desired)
  • Experience influencing across multiple groups to gain buy-in
  • Lean/Six Sigma green belt certification (desired).
