Job Summary: Reporting directly to the President, the Accounting Manager will play a key role in enhancing and streamlining accounting processes and ensuring accurate monthly financial statement reporting. This position will oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and the management of scholarship funds. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with the for-profit entity's accounting team and external auditors. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Finance: Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures Create, prepare, and manage multiple annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans Treasury management responsibilities, including the transfer of funds as needed Accounting: Oversee accounting functions, including general ledger management and maintenance of the chart of accounts Preparation of all balance sheet account reconciliations Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and financial statements Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements Identify and lead accounting improvement projects to automate and streamline accounting processes Coordinate with respective program managers to ensure proper allocation of scholarship funds and student stipends Stay up to date on accounting rules and regulations relating to 501(c)(3) status Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare financial reports Conduct multiple budget to actual financial analyses and provide recommendations to improve financial performance Prepare the annual budget in collaboration with the Executive Directors of each program Conduct monthly financial reviews Perform various analytics such as cost per scholar Other duties as assigned Audit and Compliance: Participate in annual audits Ensure timely resolution of audit requests Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings and other statutory requirements Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all financial transactions Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit sector Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) Proficient in Excel Strong knowledge of GAAP, non-profit accounting standards, and financial regulations Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently while recognizing the importance of effectively communicating and coordinating with leadership Strong attention to detail Ability to meet deadlines Maintain confidentiality Livescan and pre-employment screening clearance Job Type: Part-time Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 20 per week Physical Setting: Office Schedule: Monday to Friday Education: Bachelor's (Required) Experience: Accounting: 3 years (Required) Ability to Commute: Newport Beach, CA 92660 (Required) Ability to Relocate: Newport Beach, CA 92660: Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: Hybrid remote in Newport Beach, CA 92660 #J-18808-Ljbffr
