Job Summary Reporting to the Controller, the function of the position is to assist the Controller and CFAO by performing financial reporting and analysis of the organizational and various team budgets and AIA organization KPIs on a regular basis, and by providing financial analysis of existing projects/products and new projects as well as assisting with the preparation of cash flow analysis for AIA's various entities. The Director will manage revenue reporting and will assist the revenue and expense budgeting and forecasting for the Institute and will serve as the liaison to the College of Fellows and AIA Foundation for all financial reporting and budgeting. Job Duties Compile financial information for the Controller and CFAO and analyze project performance against the approved budget and prior years. Responsible for developing the annual budget, two periodic financial forecasts, and multi-year financial plan. Analyze and provide recommendations, in conjunction with the applicable business unit, on pricing decisions and revenue trends for various products/services. Present analysis to senior management. Conduct quarterly financial reviews with department heads as requested by the Controller and CFAO. Analyze ongoing financial performance of various business units/products/services. Generate and explain financial analysis for presentation to the Controller and CFAO. Provide analysis of profitability of new business opportunities and required investments to maintain AIA's position in the marketplace. Generate multiple scenarios, in concert with the applicable department. Present analysis to senior management. Oversee membership reporting and analysis and work closely with managers to ensure data is accurate. Obtain, analyze and disseminate data dealing with current membership trends, projected demographic changes, population shifts, etc. to develop, articulate and implement the strategies to meet the challenges of a changing membership environment. Lead the coordination and preparation of the Institute's annual capital and project-based operating budgets and forecasts. Manage corporate insurance portfolio and handle interactions with the insurance agent and carriers. Assist with AIA's annual financial audit and income tax preparation. Coordinate and direct AIA Foundation & College of Fellows audit, including reviewing/creating all schedules for the auditors. Take ownership of audited financial statement review process. Review all corporate partner proposals, calculate partner revenue, applicable tax and track corporate partner accounts receivable. Take ownership of the proper accounting and reporting of capitalization and amortization of significant projects, revenue recognition and intercompany accounts. Develop new accounting and reporting processes as needs arise. Other duties and projects as assigned. Frequent Contacts Regulatory agencies (IRS, D.C. tax department) Outside auditors AIA Finance Committee Board of Directors, AIA Foundation Executive Committee, AIA College of Fellows Federal Government/Other Foundations EVP/CEO Chief Finance and Administration Officer AIA Human Resources Members of the AIA Senior Leadership and Management Teams Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge and skill in for-profit and non-profit budget development and financial analysis, including project-based budget monitoring, organizational auditing, financial reporting and financial modeling. Knowledge of GAAP, FASB issues and IRC regulations particularly as they pertain to 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(3) organizations. Experience with evaluating risk management insurance programs and obtaining appropriate cost-effective coverage. Strong skills in written and oral communication and active listening. Demonstrated ability to understand complex concepts and communicate them effectively to senior management. Ability to work independently with little supervision and build partnerships with internal/external customers. Demonstrated ability to influence decision making. Considerable skill in the use of automated accounting systems (preferably Sage Intacct, Solver, Power BI) and various Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Excel skills should include advanced skills including V lookups, pivot tables, solver and the ability to apply best practices. Ownership, commitment and accountability for accuracy, on-time delivery, attention to detail and juggling multiple priorities. Bachelor's degree in finance or business and minimum eight years of responsible budgeting and financial analysis experience. Experience in 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(3) organizations is strongly preferred.
