JOB SUMMARY

D.C. United are looking for a talented and enthusiastic undergraduate or graduate student with a strong passion for gaining community relations experience with a professional sports team. This internship will allow an individual to work on meaningful projects that are essential to club business, collaborate with community partners, and assist in enhancing the team's community footprint. Through this internship, the individual will see and experience how social impact intersects across all D.C. United departments and the Greater Washington community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of Community Relations projects, signature programs, events, in-kind donations, and experiences.
  • Support planning, development and the execution of special events that support the D.C. United's community pillars: Empowerment, Opportunity, and Service.
  • Support planning, development and execution of D.C. United's signature programs, United We Serve, Soccer & Soar, Raise a Toast, Women United and Twinning Project
  • Play a role in leading community engagement and volunteerism efforts with the front office, first team, fans and corporate partners.
  • Cultivate relationships with nonprofit organizations, community groups and neighboring businesses to understand the greatest need and recommend ways in which the club can empower and uplift them.
  • Collaborate with other departments to amplify community programming and events.
  • Provide other administrative support to the Community Relations team as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Eligible to receive college credit for the internship.
  • Dedicate a maximum of 25 hours a week to the internship from January/February 2025 to May/June 2025.
  • Experience in sports and/or social impact is a plus.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

  • Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Good sense of humor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

SCHEDULE
  • Dedicate a maximum of 25 hours a week to the internship from January/February 2025 to May/June 2025
  • Work may include matchdays, weekends, and/or evenings based on season schedule.
