Remote Scheduling Specialist

The orientation hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm CST (CST time zone) for approximately one week.
After orientation, the training hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm CST (CST time zone) for approximately two weeks.
After orientation, the working hours are Monday-Friday from 9:00am - 5:30pm CST (CST time zone).
Summary: The Centralized Scheduling Specialist, under the direction of the Scheduling Manager, screens and schedules patients appropriately via incoming and outbound calls with patients and/or physician office representation. This position will support our Shared Services Center and client hospitals around the country for a wide variety of business-critical hardware systems by providing top-notch customer service and accuracy of appointment scheduling to our patients and supported physician community and hospitals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (List in order of importance or percentage of time spent on the particular responsibility. High to Low)
- Schedule patient appointments via phone and/or fax in a timely, effective, and courteous manner by maximizing the patients' appointments by scheduling multiple services on the same day, if/when possible and appropriate. (60%)
- Problem-solve, screen pertinent health-related issues, and document critical information within applicable scheduling application. (10%)
- Accurately perform patient scheduling and registrations by consistently providing accurate information, following scheduling and registration guidelines, while maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor. (10%)
- Maintain working knowledge and understanding of scheduling applications, registration systems, electronic order repository applications, Medical Necessity, insurance authorization protocols, departmental scheduling guidelines and testing protocols to ensure accurate scheduling, and any additional systems/workflows pertaining to their job role. (10%)
- Maintain performance standards that ensure the department is performing at peak proficiency and that established goals are consistently met. (10%)
Qualifications:
Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Required Experience: 1+ years of scheduling experience in a medical facility, ambulatory surgery facility, acute-care hospital, or equivalent
Preferred Experience: 1+ years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, Pre-Arrival or business office including 1 year Patient Access, Registration, and/or Centralized Scheduling or Order Management
License/Registration/Certificate: None
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), but also have the ability to effectively demonstrate working understanding of scheduling applications and multi-phone line/telecom systems.
