Position Summary:We are currently seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic engineers for a new product development team focused on bringing electro-mechanical, battery-powered surgical instruments to market. This opportunity is within a newer division at Globus Medical, and this person will be a core member of the team focusing on the design of mechanical sub-systems and components, including gears, CAMs, linkages, etc.The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be part of a team responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining designs for medical devices. This person needs to have strong technical skills in mechanical engineering with relevant experience in the design of mechanical systems, components, and mechanisms. The position will be a hands-on one with an individual capable of creative and systematic product development with minimum supervision. The job requires the individual to be a team player with the ability to function well in a challenging and fast-paced environment. The candidate must be enthusiastic, positive, and have strong skills in areas of dependability, interpersonal relationships, flexibility, and maturity. Essential Functions:Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design, develop, and test surgical instruments and mechanical sub-systemsSupports the creation of product requirements, specifications, and test documentsSupports the development of manufacturing test fixtures and documentationPartners with manufacturing, internal testing, and external customers when presented with quality issuesPrioritizes work to identify the root cause and create a corrective plan that ensures timely resolution of issuesMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviews professional publications, establishes personal networks, and participates in professional societiesAdheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies. Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your roleRepresents the company in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third partiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experienceExperience designing mechanical components and mechanisms, including gears, linkages, powertrains, cam mechanisms, springs, bearings, seals, etc.Familiarity with electromechanical systems and components, including brushless DC motors, motor controllers, batteries, etc.Experience with 3D modeling CAD software (Creo Parametric preferred)Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysisStrong aptitude for mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing methodsFamiliarity with a variety of industry concepts, practices, and proceduresExperience in Medical Device product development is a plusAbility to work independently and as a key contributor in small teamsExcellent oral, written, and communication skillsMotivated self-starter with good time management and organizational skillsProficient in the use of Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to travel up to 10% of the timePhysical Demands:The physical demands listed here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlRequired to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 poundsRequired to possess specific visons abilities, including: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and capacity to adjust focusOur Values:Our Life Moves Us philosophy is built on four values: Passionate About Innovation, Customer Focused, Teamwork, and Driven.Passionate about Innovation: Improving patient care by delivering advanced technology to our customers is at the core of what we do.
