The Quality Technician (QA Tech) is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of nonconforming material control systems. The QA Tech will monitor and report out on corrective and preventive actions with the objective of ensuring compliance to written procedures and improved customer satisfaction through timely communication with the customers and suppliers on product quality issues. The Tech will provide required assistance and technical input in any scrap and rework reduction initiatives. The QA Technician will assist in the development of statistical analyses and trending in order to improve elements of the Quality Management System.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive nonconforming material control processes such as Fast Response, GQTS, Supplier issues, etc.
  • Manage MRB inventory.
  • Assist in the disposition of nonconforming material while driving root cause analysis and implementation of positive, sustained corrective and preventive actions.
  • Contribute to customer satisfaction by coordinating the review and timely response to all customer quality complaints and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Train and provide ongoing guidance to assigned personnel regarding nonconforming material procedures/processes (e.g., CAR/PAR, Internal DMR, customer disposition submittals, etc.)
  • Coordinate or participate in Root Cause and Corrective Analysis/Actions.
  • Coordinate the resolution of supplier quality issues.
  • Ensure that all information regarding nonconforming material is accurate and complete.
  • Represent the quality function as a member of cross functional teams resolving quality issues in support of the team objectives including, but not limited to: inspection method improvement, on-time delivery, scrap reduction goals, past due reduction goals, etc.
  • Support First Article Inspection efforts as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting at desk and working on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Occasional bending and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Fine motor skills with frequent hand and arm movement.
  • Able to pass visual acuity test requirements

Unusual Environmental Conditions:

  • Loud machining environment; minimal exposure to aerospace metals, lubricants, and chemicals.

Required Personal Protective Equipment

  • Safety glasses/shields, appropriate manufacturing closed toed footwear, gloves, hearing protection may be required or other protective equipment as needed.

Qualifications:

  • US Citizen
  • Associate degree in Quality, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • Ability to attend and pass Sikorsky DQR training certification program
  • Ability to change direction and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • High level of commitment to success
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills both in written and verbal form
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel)
  • Basic math or industrial math skills
  • Ability to read, interpret and communicate customer and/or industry requirements (specifications, blueprints, etc.)
  • Ability to use customer databases
  • Ability to work independently and to meet established goals and deadlines
  • Aerospace experience preferred
