SafeHaven is seeking a Director of Development Operations.

The Director of Development Operations reports to the Chief Philanthropy Officer and is responsible for ensuring smooth and effective donor stewardship backend process, a successful volunteer department and robust in-kind donations to provide support to victims of domestic violence. Key responsibilities include managing the donor database, soliciting and processing the in-kind donations and managing the volunteer department via the Volunteer Manager.

The specific qualifications for this role are:

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Gathers and maintains current files on agency programs and projects.
  • Function as an agency representative helping to promote awareness and engagement - providing speaking presentations, shelter/facility tours, and acting as an agency liaison.
  • Present and serve as a point of contact in the community regarding in-kind donations and volunteer opportunities.
The specific qualifications for this role are:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in working with diverse community groups, including private and corporate foundations.
  • Familiarity with fundraising software.
  • Minimum of 3 + years of successful direct fundraising experience.
  • Ability and confidence to interact with varied constituencies.
  • Ability to creatively conceive and aggressively pursue fundraising opportunities as appropriate, promoting SafeHaven and its mission.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.
  • Dedication, flexibility, attention to detail, and creativity is a must.
  • Goal-oriented - work towards achieving development strategic goals.
  • Personal computer proficiency required, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Self-motivated - able to determine necessary tasks to finish goals.
  • Sensitivity to the issue of domestic violence.
  • Project management skills.
  • Language Skills
    • Ability to draft reports and business correspondence.
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret foundation requirements and guidelines.
    • Ability to respond creatively and diplomatically to conflicting priorities.
    • Excellent written, editing, and verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to use diplomacy and tact when communicating with all stakeholders.
