The Role

Xos is excited to hire a Vehicle Software HIL System Engineering Intern this summer to support our Software Engineering team. As an intern, you will support various subsystem algorithms in electric vehicle software, including powertrain control, body control, and battery management system control. You will conduct software testing and validation both on the Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) bench and in the vehicle, collaborating cross-functionally on design directions and requirements. Under the supervision of our Software Engineering leadership, this internship is an anticipated 3-4 month internship, with opportunity for extension.

This is an on-site based internship at our Los Angeles, CA HQ

Responsibilities
  • Plan, write, and execute tests on the HIL bench based on system and software requirements
  • Develop and run automated test suites for different subsystems with a focus on specific functionalities
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and results
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues discovered during testing
  • Perform test data analysis and trace features to the correct subsystems, working with development teams to identify root causes and solutions
  • Extend HIL bench capabilities to accommodate new software changes and test requirements
  • Participate in requirement review and test review meetings
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a B.Sc in Electrical Engineering (EE), Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (ME), or an equivalent program
  • Relevant experience in design verification testing is a plus
  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems and their interactions
  • Knowledge of DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) documents
  • Experience with vehicular communication networks such as CAN and LIN
  • Familiarity with measurement, calibration, and diagnostic tools such as ETAS INCA and Vector CANalyzer
The hourly range for this role is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Xos Inc. reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less that the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the hourly range will be based on several factors, including not but limited to, job-related knowledge, skillset, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, geographic location, and other business or organizational factors.
  • California (Los Angeles Metropolitan): $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
