Rover Autonomy Engineer
In this role, you will lead the development of the autonomy system for our client's fleet of autonomous mining robots, focusing on LiDAR sensor selection, system qualification, and lunar surface operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, OR demonstrated expertise in designing & developing LiDAR-based systems for autonomous vehicles through significant professional experience
- 5+ years of engineering experience, with 3+ years focused on developing LiDAR solutions for autonomous vehicle applications
- Proven experience selecting and integrating LiDAR sensors for autonomous vehicle systems
- Strong background in writing software algorithms that leverage LiDAR data for aerospace, automotive, or robotics autonomy
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated exceptional engineering ability, particularly in LiDAR integration and usage
- Passion for advancing technology that supports multi-planetary human exploration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing, debugging, and deploying LiDAR-based software used in real-world applications
- Proficiency in integrating LiDAR systems onto custom electronics hardware
- Experience working in start-up or fast-paced, agile development environments
- Professional leadership experience in engineering teams focused on LiDAR or sensor-driven autonomy
- Strong drive to develop LiDAR software on rapid timelines, with a commitment to ownership and accountability
- High levels of personal productivity and initiative
- Deep desire to contribute to making humanity a multi-planetary species
This position is on-site in LA. Must be US Citizen or US Permanent Resident (green card holder).
