Job Description

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of talent management and human resources policies, plans, and services at the YMCA of Greater Flint. The coordinator will help create an environment to attract, develop, engage, and retain talent at the YMCA of Greater Flint through employee relations, employment practices and procedures, and employee communications.

Qualifications

High School Diploma is required. College degree or certificate in Human Resources preferred.Knowledge of office equipment, computers, and all necessary software applications. Minimum of 1-3 years of Human Resources Generalist, recruitment, or employee relations experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, business writing, grammar, and verbal communication skills.Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

Essential Functions

Works with the Leadership Team on forecasting human resource needs; carries out recruitment and new employee onboarding. Priority is placed on hiring/onboarding seasonal summer staff.

Assist in onboarding and personnel file compliance, including, I-9, reference consent and screenings and background release forms and reporting. Prepares all required documentation for new hires and established personnel file and keeps files up to date.Helps to track certifications and send out alerts when expiring.

Serves as the point person for onboarding questions .

Maintains and tracks training and compliance programs including but not limited to Praesidium, West Bend, etc.

Conducts training programs and makes group presentations

Administers programs to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction levels

Creates and distributes communications (memos, emails, letters, employee newsletters, presentations, spreadsheets, surveys, etc.).

Manages birthday and anniversary recognition programs

Tracks data and consolidates responses as requested and follows up with others as needed to obtain information and identify insights.

Provides technical, customer relations, and general support for HR initiatives and projects

Assists with employment verification requests

Assist with benefit enrollment in various employee benefits program activities including the processing of life event changes to employee enrollments and participation in administration duties related to annual open enrollment.

Cross trains with business manager on some administrative tasks, including payroll, to act as back-up when needed.

Adhere to policies related to boundaries with children.

Attend required abuse risk management training.

Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

Adhere to job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities.

Required Certifications

Completion of High School or EquivalentCollege degree or certificate in Human Resources preferred
