Perplexity is seeking a highly experienced Governance, Risk & Compliance Analyst to join our world-class team. As the initial hire for this critical role, you will have the unique opportunity to architect our compliance and risk management strategies from the ground up. This role is based in our San Francisco office location. Responsibilities Lead audits for SOC2 and ISO27001, ensuring compliance with certification requirements and managing improvements post-audit Ensure compliance with GDPR and CCPA/CPRA and other regulations Supervise and work closely with the EU Compliance Officer and Data Protection Officer Respond to security questionnaires and inquiries effectively in collaboration with Sales, Security and Engineering Develop and maintain public-facing trust pages to demonstrate security and compliance commitment Conduct risk assessments and mitigate data security and compliance risks Develop Risk programs centered on Vulnerabilities, Enterprise, Vendors, and other areas to proactively address potential threats Educate employees on compliance and security best practices to maintain a strong security culture within the organization Stay updated on cybersecurity trends and threats to ensure effective training and awareness programs for employees Follow and help shape the AI regulatory and standards landscape to keep the company at the forefront of industry developments and best practices Qualifications 5+ years of experience in GRC, compliance, or customer trust roles within the tech industry Proven success in leading audit preparations and audits for SOC2, ISO27001, and similar standards Deep understanding of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other privacy regulations, with experience implementing and monitoring compliance processes Extensive knowledge of security best practices Strong commitment to cross-functional collaboration with IT, Security, Sales, and Engineering to drive company success and build customer trust Self-motivated and organized, with a creative approach to project completion Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills The compensation range for this role is $120K - $150K. At Perplexity, we've experienced tremendous growth and adoption since publicly launching the world's first fully functional conversational answer engine just over a year ago. Our AI-powered search assistant has amassed 10 million monthly active users as of early 2024, with our mobile apps installed over 1 million times across iOS and Android devices. In 2023 alone, we served over 500 million queries from users around the globe. To support our rapid expansion, we've raised significant funding from some of the most respected investors in technology. In January 2024, we raised $73.6 million in a Series B round led by IVP, with participation from NVIDIA, Jeff Bezos' investment fund, NEA, Databricks, and other prominent firms. We followed that up with a $62.7 million Series B1 round in April 2024 led by Daniel Gross, valuing Perplexity at over $1 billion. Our prominent investor base includes IVP, NEA, Jeff Bezos, NVIDIA, Databricks, Bessemer Venture Partners, Elad Gil, Nat Friedman, Naval Ravikant, Tobi Lutke, and many other visionary individuals. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
