An incumbent must be available for considerable overtime during heavy snowfall or other emergencies. Considerable overtime work is required, particularly during the winter months, and is considered a condition of employment.Minimum QualificationsOne (1) year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor INCLUDING EITHER one season of operating a snowplow with wings OR six (6) months of operating medium or heavy equipment, such as graders, excavators, and backhoes.ORUpon successful completion of original probation as a Transportation Operations Technician I AND possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement.Preferred QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Special RequirementsA Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.An incumbent must live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation.Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement is required within the first six months of employment.An incumbent must complete all VTTC required coursework within one (1) year or be enrolled.Note: Non-original probationary employees must obtain a required CDL license prior to the completion of six (6) months of service in the position.
