THE JOB:

The Lead Mutuel Clerk's primary responsibility is to assist guests in placing wagers on horse racing and sporting events from around the world. This role ensures all transactions and interactions are carried out in accordance with departmental policies, property practices, and procedures, while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining accuracy in all wagering activities.


STARTING RATE:$18.50/hour plus direct tips


THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Daily Operations Support: Assist the supervisor with race and sports book operations during assigned shifts, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • Ticket Monitoring: Oversee tickets written, cashed, voided, and wagers placed during the shift.

  • Cash Verification & Reporting: Assist in verifying cash drawers, completing reports, rating customer activity, and monitoring for suspicious behavior in the race and sports book.

  • Cash Bank Management: Maintain and reconcile a cash bank, accepting payments and providing accurate change when necessary.

  • Winning Ticket Payments: Process and verify payments on winning tickets accurately and promptly.

  • Cashiering Duties: Perform writing and cashiering tasks in accordance with department policies and procedures.

  • Information Accuracy: Ensure the accuracy of LED boards and guest informational sheets, providing up-to-date information to guests.

  • Customer Rewards Protection: Safeguard customer rewards and ensure adherence to established credit lines.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other job-related tasks as requested.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent educational experience required.

  • Availability: Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

  • Minimum Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a Race and Sportsbook or a related casino area.

  • Preferred Experience: 2+ years of experience in a Race & Sportsbook or casino environment, specifically as a mutuel clerk or sportsbook writer.

  • Cash Handling: Strong experience in managing cash transactions with accuracy and efficiency.

  • Customer Service: Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.

  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues to support smooth daily operations.

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using computers and relevant software for handling wagers and payments.
