**Description**

POLITICO seeks an ambitious and experienced Business Development Director to join our growing Audience Solutions team in order to lead our consumer and retail business. The Director will leverage a deep understanding of POLITICOs audience, differentiators and value proposition in order to provide thoughtful, creative and effective opportunities for brands to engage with our premium audience. We are a non-siloed team, and the Director will have a wide range of product solutions at their disposal, including digital and print advertising, brand content, podcasts, and programmatic.

This is a great opportunity for an entrepreneurial and ambitious Director to collaborate with all members of our Corporate and Brand Partnerships team to bring our retail and consumer business to the next level. Candidate must have a firm understanding of the premium consumer, retail, and luxury advertising ecosystem, as well as emerging market trends.

**What Youll Do**

* Along with senior leadership, help set and execute an ambitious strategy for growing POLITICOs consumer and retail business in new ways.

* Develop and manage strategic relationships with clients and agencies

* Actively position POLITICO and its audience to marketers and advertising decision makers

* Collaborate with Directors on the Brand team to design integrated strategies for Fortune 500 companies

* Respond to RFPs with thoughtful, creative solutions

* Design and build sales materials

* Keep abreast of rapidly-evolving industry trends

* Understand, grow and report on your sales pipeline

* Continue to embody the successful brand presence of POLITICO in the market

* Execute camapigns and analyze performance with the assistance of your dedicated Account Manger

**What Youll Need**

* **BA/BS degree required**

* **3 years digital sales experience, or 4-5 years digital media planning/ operations experience focused on the consumer market**

* **A desire to think outside the box and identify new opportunities for growth and expansion**

* **The ability to be a public-facing evangelist for the your business and the POLITICO brand**

* **An ideal candidate will have some familiarity with programmatic advertising**

* **Excellent oral and written communication skills to be used in presentations and written memos**

* **Ability to project manage, prioritize, multitask and work independently**

* **Candidate must be comfortable presenting in front of large groups and high-level executives**

* **Strong attention to detail**
