ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - JANITOR:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

1. Maintain a safe environment at all times for all personnel.

2. Perform safety related inspections and activities such as removing snow, salting walkways, removing debris from walkways, cleaning up spills, clearing clutter to prevent falls, reporting potential or actual safety hazards in a timely manner, etc.

3. Ensure all chemicals, cleansers, etc. are properly labeled and stored, and used according to safety instructions.

4. Follow the instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.

5. Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment at all times.

6. Vacuum, sweep and mop floors and stairs. Maintain non-slip floors and stairs.

7. Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets as needed.

8. Clean and sanitize bathrooms using established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

9. Clean and sanitize sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms.

10. Clean windowsills and windows. Clean accessible interior and exterior windows.

11. Dust and clean office desks and furniture that are not cluttered.

12. Thoroughly vacuum offices at least weekly.

13. Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary.

14. Assist with the setup and break down of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.

15. Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools as needed.

16. Maintain janitor closets, storage and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe manner.

17. Restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, and common areas.

18. Ensure all janitorial equipment and tools are properly maintained, repaired and serviced as needed.

19. Take training as required in safety, cleaning methods and techniques, new products, First Aid, AED and CPR as needed.

20. Support and enforce all policies of BGCGCO, OSHA rules and health and safety regulations and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - KITCHEN AIDE:

1. Perform all duties according to kitchen task lists and schedules, and as assigned.

2. Complete all initial and on-going refresher training for food service and kitchen work.

3. Maintain proper records, food temperatures, food delivery slips and time logs as assigned.

4. Prepare food in a safe and sanitary manner.

5. Wear gloves and hairnets/hats as appropriate when preparing and handling food, wash hands often.

6. Serve food to kids individually as each kid goes through the line.

7. Record meal counts of kids individually as each kid go through the line.

8. Help with inventory records and accountability

9. Unload stock and put away in proper areas.

10. Wash dishes, take out trash, sweep and mop floors.

11. Clean and sanitize kitchen areas as needed.

12. Assist in seating kids coming into the cafeteria.

13. Deliver food to other sites when needed.

14. Interact with the kids and give them an enjoyable experience in the kitchen.

15. Report any suspected abuse asap to the Kitchen Manager and Director of Program Quality & Evaluation.

16. Participate in member supervision meetings, staff training, team meetings, monthly all-staff meetings and other staff meetings as required.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED - KITCHEN AIDE & JANITOR:

21. You may be assigned other duties from time to time in addition to your regular job responsibilities. You will be expected to perform those duties to the best of your ability.

22. These may include events or other Club activities not directly related to your essential duties.

23. Expectations regarding the performance of "other assigned duties" is based on the BGCGCO ability to reasonably accommodate such expectations without jeopardizing the consistent achievement of the Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities.
WORK ETHIC - KITCHEN AIDE & JANITOR:

1. Work in collaboration and cooperation with staff at all times for the highest benefit of the members.

2. Abide by the requirements and standards set forth in the Employee Handbook, BGCGCO Policies and Procedures, and all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes containing standards and principles that apply.

3. Confidentiality - Maintain strict confidentiality at all times in written, spoken, and electronic media according to the standards defined in the BGCGCO Policies and Procedures, Employee Handbook and governmental regulations and requirements.

4. Establish and maintain positive and constructive professional relationships with members, parents, staff, volunteers, management, and the community at all times.

5. Maintain a high level of productivity by being constructively busy performing your assigned duties and responsibilities to the best of your ability, by completing work requirements on schedule and improving quality in all work activities.

6. Maintain your own council and not create, spread, or otherwise participate in gossip.

7. Look for ways to strengthen teamwork, team efficiency and team performance without forcing your personal agenda onto the team.

8. Support fellow employees by looking for constructive ways to help when they are busy.

9. If a conflict arises, settle it quietly, privately and professionally with the other person, never in front of members or co-workers.

10. Take any concerns and/or complaints you may have to the appropriate supervisor, director of human resources to seek resolution. Follow the Employee Complaint procedure if your concerns cannot be resolved to your satisfaction.

11. You are encouraged to make an ongoing commitment to personal and professional growth and development by seeking additional on-going education and training relevant to your work.
ATTENDANCE AND WORK LOCATION- KITCHEN AIDE & JANITOR:

1. Arrive at work on time and be ready to work at the start of your scheduled shift.

2. Leave work only at the end of your scheduled shift and not before.

3. Notify your supervisor in a timely manner if you will be late, need to leave early, or will be absent.

4. Work location, work hours and break times may vary from time to time to fit BGCGCO needs. When this occurs you are expected to fulfill the above attendance requirements.

5. Record your work time correctly and accurately, and submit any adjustments to your supervisor on time for approval.

3. Ability to effectively set and maintain appropriate boundaries around members.

4. Basic knowledge of cleaning products or willing to learn.

5. At least one year janitorial/custodial/maintenance work experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE- KITCHEN AIDE & JANITOR:

5. At least 18 years of age.

6. High school diploma or GED.

7. Ability to perform high school level arithmetic calculations and reading comprehension.

8. Legally eligible to work in the United States.

9. A valid Indiana driver's license and be able to drive an automobile.

10. Reliable transportation to and from work, to program locations, and for activities such as meetings, classes, and workshops in and out of the area.

11. Pass a criminal records background check and a 10-panel drug screen.

12. Maintain current 1st Aid and CPR certification.

13. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

14. Maintain emotional self-control when under personal stress.

15. Accurately assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stress, within deadlines, and in emergency situations.

16. Understand and carry out instructions and procedures with minimal supervision.

17. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing using correct English.

18. Exhibit excellent relationship building skills with all levels of employees and management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS- KITCHEN AIDE & JANITOR:

1. The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items.

2. Ability to adapt to inclement weather conditions and/or situations.

3. Ability to move easily across a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces;

4. Possess the strength and agility to climb stairs, lift and carry 25 pounds at least 20 feet.

5. Possess the speech, vision and hearing functions necessary to respond effectively to emergency situations.

6. Capable of performing physically and mentally in a reasonable manner all essential job responsibilities, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
