Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Work closely with Design Manager in the execution and review of designs and provide proper approvals. Ensure code requirements pertaining to job specifications are applied. Serve as an expert resource for the designers in your region. Utilize extensive, industry specific knowledge and experience to evaluate needs for - and provide - training, technical assistance, quality review, and troubleshooting for other designers. Assist S&S sales representatives and customers to determine the best fit protection solutions for their needs. Provide consultation for other designers, project managers, and superintendents regarding design changes. Evaluate designer assignments and schedules and provide recommendations to Design Manager. Provide training and performance updates to the Design Manager. Collaborate with colleagues by sharing information, project status, skills, and knowledge with others. Visit and walk through onsite projects as needed to provide assistance and technical expertise. Draw upon appropriate company resources to effectively resolve client challenges and related business challenges. Stay current with latest technological, construction, regulatory, and industry thinking and approaches. Maintain a good sense of the local business climate and apply learnings to sales and client support activities/duties. Maintain proper project documentation including submittals and approvals. Serve as a key participant in planning meetings. Provide timely and accurate entries into operating systems and update Compass regularly. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned by management. Model the way and act in accordance with the Companys Core Values at all times. Education/Qualification: Bachelors degree in engineering State Professional Engineer licensure in Fire Protection, and able to achieve multistate licensing. 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering and/or fire sprinkler system design, layout, and /or calculation and plan review. Advanced ability to design in AutoCAD. Advanced knowledge of hydraulic calculations; strong math skills. Experience with foam systems, deluge systems and fire pumps. Knowledge and experience in evaluating water supplies and sizing fire pumps. Ability to review fire sprinkler layout drawings and calculations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, via video conferencing, and through email. Experience working against deadlines and an excellent track record of completing projects on time. Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams). Strong organizational and time management skills with great attention to detail. Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently. Ability to travel overnight occasionally. Ability to maintain a valid drivers license and drive to job sites. Ability to work weekends when necessary. 10 years of experience in fire protection engineering and/or fire sprinkler system design, layout, and /or calculation and plan review preferred. Superior ability to interpret and apply NFPA (13) standard to new design requirements preferred. Advanced experience with HydraCAD and HydraCALC preferred. Advanced ability to utilize BIM (Building Information Modeling), 3D CAD environment preferred. Experience in leadership positions, especially those involving training, mentoring, coaching, and directing the work of others preferred. TWIC Card preferred. NICET Level III or IV in Water Based Systems Layout preferred. Other Duties: Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy. Performs other duties as assigned.
