**Description**
AMPI owns eight Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nations American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperatives award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Senior Buyer will purchase raw materials, consumables, personal protective equipment, and goods and services.
- Responsible for planning, organizing and working with production team to support production scheduling and analysis, communicating potential schedule impacts and escalating issues to the Purchasing Manager; working closely with internal departments such as manufacturing, maintenance, supply chain, quality, and production to ensure timely communication of lead times, schedule impacts and changes, material shortages, etc.
- Partners with internal departments to identify prospective supplier sources and evaluates supplier capacity and internal compliance requirements.
- Negotiates terms related to pricing, delivery, and quality standards with current and potential vendor partners ensuring favorable terms for the organization and executes contracts documenting agreed upon terms and conditions and attaining the best overall value for every purchase.
- Communicates with vendors and internal participants regarding potential delays and works to develop solutions to avoid delay of receipt of material and products.
- Responsible for source selection, vendor negotiation, product quality and managing supplier relationships.
- Develop cost saving programs in projects and total applied costs.
- Engages in reviews with suppliers and stakeholders across the company based on understanding of total costs over the lifecycle of both goods and services.
- Perform other administration duties and clerical support such as supplier certifications, maintaining a supplier, and certificates of insurance.
