Senior Pharmacy Buyer; Mount Sinai Downtown; Full Time; Days

The Senior Pharmacy Buyer is responsible for negotiating contractual arrangements between Mount Sinai Medical Center and selected vendors to ensure the procurement of high-quality equipment, supplies, and other products at optimum cost.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain relationships with vendors to ensure the procurement of high-quality equipment and products, expedient delivery, and reliable service at optimum prices.
- Analyze markets to determine vendor sources and product availability.
- Develop bids for products, services, and capital purchases according to purchasing policies and conventions.
- Prepare solicitations, evaluate, negotiate, and prepare award purchase contracts for the purpose of purchasing supplies, equipment, and products within authorized purchasing limits.
- Manage all aspects of the contract process, including price, freight terms, payment terms, and rebates/credits.
- Maintain familiarity with the U.S. General Purchasing Office (GPO) contracts and utilize them to achieve the best possible contractual agreements.
- Collaborate with user departments to achieve volume commitments and standardization compliance.
- Recommend changes in methods and procedures to improve systems of procurement.
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field preferred but not required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- 3 years minimum purchasing experience (hospital experience preferred).
