Responsible for overseeing a successful niche industry conference and trade show in the athletic, recreation and fitness market, the show director manages all aspects of event planning and production, including site and vendor selection, budgeting, programming, operations, special events and registration. This position reports to the President of AB Media.

Key objectives and responsibilities of the position include:

• Accelerating attendee growth on a 40-year running industry event in the athletic, fitness and recreation market – AB Show (Athletic Business Show).

• Collaborating with Exhibits Director to increase exhibition revenue and sponsorship opportunities.

• Managing, with the event marketing team, the marketing and promotion to maximize exposure and participation.

• Negotiating and managing contracts and relationships with all current and potential new event partners and industry leaders.

• Selecting, negotiating and managing all major vendor relationships and contracts, including registration, hotel, audio/visual, speaker software, transportation, decorator, electrical, temporary labor and video/photography.

• Reviewing and approving all proposals, quotes and final bills.

Qualifications:

· A four-year college degree in business administration, marketing or event management, or equivalent education.

· 5+ years of experience in all aspects of trade show and conference management.

· Experience with the sports, fitness and recreation industry a plus.

· Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts with convention centers, hotels, vendors and partners.

· Ability to work under pressure and manage individual and team workload.

· Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.

· Exceptional customer service skills.

· Budget management experience.
