Job Summary: Performs a variety of duties involved in the collection, interpretation, and documentation of data in support of clinical trials with regular guidance. Assists in ensuring adherence to protocols, appropriate regulations, and deadlines.

Department Summary:

The Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) has a long and notable history of studying the pathophysiology of, and developing potential therapies for, the prevention and treatment of kidney disease.

Comprised of more than 70 innovative, internationally recognized basic and clinical researchers and active clinicians working in state-of-the-art facilities, our division's contributions are validated through high-impact publications, strong federal and non-federal grant funding, and a robust clinical program that provides cutting-edge, comprehensive care across the spectrum of kidney disease.

Our division's goals are to: * Provide excellence in patient care * Train physicians and researchers * Lead scientific research and discoveries to understand and treat acute and chronic renal disease * Promote collaborations within the scientific domain

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Assists in assessing patient eligibility by gathering and reviewing complete medical history of patient. * Collects and monitors all study patients records to document treatments and outcomes. Reports all adverse reactions according to VU and protocol guidelines. * Abstracts and records all patient data essential to the study onto required case report forms. * Sets up timeline of tests and required procedures for nurse. * Checks values from lab and rates toxicity levels * Coordinates with patient's PCP or testing facility to ensure tests or procedures are conducted as required. * Prepares kits for procedures, labels tubes, gives to nurse with specific times and dates for collection. * Freezes, spins, separates samples, and cultures as necessary. Mails to designated labs. * Calls or sends questionnaires to patient to check outcomes, survival rate, and quality of life and informs tumor registry, appropriate clinics, and hospital of patient status. * Examine data and records to ensure compliance with protocol. * The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES * Laboratory Practices (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate laboratory practices in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments. * Medical Records Management (Novice): Knowledge of how and where to store and maintain basic records associated with job assignments. * Research Administration (Novice): Knowledgeable on all phases in the lifecycle of a sponsored research project.
