Japanese company seeks an Accounting Manager/Controller.
· Starting annual salary is $ 150,000
· Benefit: Medical, Dental, Health (Premium plan 100% covered)
· Work hour: 8:30AM - 5:30PM (8h) Exempt
Manage all the accounting, finance, and tax tasks for 8 US and UK real estate entities (hotels and commercial buildings)
Management
Manage outsourced functions
Work with property managers/accountants to ensure all the activities are reflected on the reports
Transactions
1. Ensure the timely monthly closing of total of 8 legal entities (LLCs and Inc): Accounting Software – Microsoft Dynamics -SL
2. Recognize rent payments, expenses and other transactions per USGAAP
3. Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
4. Ensure that all expense reports are accountable
5. Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
6. Monitor and manage the capital expenditures and keep record of depreciation – SAGE fixed asset system
7. Monitor Payroll and Book into GL correctly
8. Maintain the chart of accounts/General Ledgers/Trial Balances for 8 entities.
9. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
10. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
11. Prepare the tax provisions for INCS based on tax consultant’s advise
12. Work with Tokyo HQ for reconciliation of inter-company expenses and payments (June and December)
13. Issue invoices for inter- company expenses (June and December) and fund accordingly
14. Fund/book Japan monthly payrolls for 3 expats on 20th every month
Cash Management
1. Facilitate fund transfers on timely manners for expenses
2. Facilitate debt and interest payments quarterly/semi-annually (6 loans)
3. Keep good working relationships with banks
Reporting
1. Prepare monthly cash reports by 5th every month – 30+ bank accounts (share with west coast accountant)
2. Issue timely and complete financial statements and fixed asset NBV reports (8 entities F/S, 4 NBL reports)
3. Manage fixed assets reports (NBV) using SAGE software to ensure depreciation calculation is correctly reflected
4. Work with asset managers/Japan counter partners on PL in Japan style on forecast and variances with budget. (4 SOGO/Japan PL) by 25th every month
5. Coordinate the preparation of the corporate semi-annual and annual consolidation packages and related reports (7 consolidations, share with west coast accountant)
6. Manage the production of the annual budget using SOGO style (share with west coast accountant)
Compliance
1. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, including income tax, real estate taxes and withholding taxes (US and UK) working with tax team and Friedman LLP consultant.
2. Work with real estate tax consultants to file annual forms (TC 101 and TC 202)
3. Quarterly payment/file VAT return (UK) by working with UK tax team
4. Monitor compliance with debt covenants with banks (KY forms, annual questionnaires)
5. Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the semi-annual and annual reviews/audits (corporate federal taxes, state taxes and NYC taxes)
Audit/Review
1. Work with US firm on semi- annual reviews (July and January)
2. Work with UK firm on annual statutory audit and create audited financial statements (September)
3. Consolidate entities using excel formats to submit to Tokyo HQ and the firm for reviews.
4. Manage financial data entries into Japan HQ consolidation accounting software
5. Manage all the timing and deadline by working with Tokyo HQ accounting team
Desired Qualifications: The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience.
Working Conditions: Primarily in an office environment. No or minimum travel is expected.
