Description

The ASL Employment Specialist will be an integral part of the StarWorks program team. This person will assist individuals with disabilities in searching for and obtaining competitive employment and will also manage and develop relationships with community employers. This person should be fluent in ASL, both expressive and receptive. We are looking for a talented individual with a deep commitment to working as part of a skilled team and a true passion for advocating for American Training Guests, to ensure that they are receiving quality services while incorporating our WOW Magic philosophy.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist individuals with disabilities in multiple areas including vocational guidance, job placement, employer education, job coaching and employer relations.
  • Actively work with individuals on job development including resume writing, interview skills, travel and job etiquette.
  • Request and coordinate Sign Language Interpreters as needed, providing meeting specific information.
  • Communicate with MRC (Mass Rehabilitation Commission) Counselors regularly to ensure quality of service.
  • Delivers service components as identified by the MRC Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) targeting job development and placement employment support services, assessments, and career identification.
  • Maintain a regular caseload ensuring all Funding Source and internal documentation is complete and accurate, as well as submitted in a timely manner.
  • Is knowledgeable of and demonstrates in all duties the policies of American Training, Inc. in the areas of Human Rights and confidentiality.
Qualifications
  • ASL fluency, both expressive and receptive, is required. Deaf Cultural Competency is required. Bi-lingual employees preferred as well.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience as decided by the Program Coordinator
  • Must be able to travel within the region to various settings including but not limited to employers, offices, and community organizations.
  • Experience with employment services preferred
  • Excellent written, and oral communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills
  • Always use the highest standard of ethical conduct, this includes respecting the confidentiality of Colleagues and Students.
  • A valid driver's license, the use of a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage and a satisfactory CORI are required.
