Department Summary The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Office fosters a safe and secure campus in a healthy learning environment where students, faculty, staff, and guests can thrive. The EHS Office administers multiple programs including management of Radiological and Biosafety, Hazardous Materials, and the Emergency Management Program. We also provide services such as ergonomic assessments, indoor air quality assessments, and emergency planning assistance for events. Position Overview This position is responsible for the direction and oversight of the Universitys environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs. The Director provides leadership to a number of EHS professionals with ultimate oversight of programs involving environmental regulatory compliance, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials, laboratory and biosafety, radiation, fire safety, public health, and food safety. This position serves as the primary point of contact in all safety matters. The position provides consultative assistance and technical guidance to leadership and the greater campus community. This role participates with all levels of the campus organization to develop and implement appropriate policies and practices while continually evaluating established procedures for compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in environmental science and safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, safety, physical or life science, or related field and 5 years' of associated experience.
