Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in general ledger management and financial reporting. This position will help prepare financial statements, maintain and reconcile general ledger and sub-ledger accounting records, and implement and monitor internal controls. The Senior Accountant will manage accounts receivable and/or accounts payable, perform reconciliations, and prepare weekly cash reports and financial trends reports. Tasks may also include providing audit support, preparing related accruals and prepaids, reporting on projects and grants, and preparing budgets.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for the financial and cash operations of Musikfest and other key festivals and events as needed.
  • Management and processing of accounts receivable and/or accounts payable, perform reconciliations and accruals and report on financial trends.
  • Manage the general ledger accounting process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing procedures.
  • Prepare and analyze daily/weekly cash reporting and processing of bank account activity, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP accounting standards and regulations.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve internal accounting processes and procedures to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, maintain accuracy, safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with Controller and external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation, explanations, and support to facilitate the audit process, as necessary.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to finance staff, fostering their professional development and ensuring the effectiveness of the accounting team.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management, leveraging financial expertise to support strategic objectives and business growth.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years' progressive experience in an accounting role with an understanding of nonprofit accounting a plus.
  • BS/BA in Accounting, Business Administration or Management with an accounting focus; CPA certification a plus.
  • Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality of sensitive information, ethical standards, and trust with high ethical standards.
  • Proficiency with General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, Inventory Management and E Commerce.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a culturally diverse work group and at all levels of the organization.
  • Provide the highest level of internal and external customer service.
  • Proficiency with computers and finance systems; Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Financial Software Packages; experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT a plus.
  • Proven analytical/technical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to implement and direct multiple tasks and projects, setting deadlines and ensuring accountability.
