Financial Accountant
to join the Finance Team.
The key focus of this role is to support the continuous improvement of our financial process and systems to increase the capacity and capability of the Finance Team. Ideally you have experience or previous exposure with internal process and system improvement projects. You have an eye for development opportunities and the drive to make them happen.
You are a proactive thinker and take initiative where needed. You have a flexible and practical approach, a willingness to learn and are ready to help with any part of the operation. Working in a small team and collaborating with the wider institute you are a skilful team player with great collaboration and communication expertise to match.
This is a permanent, full-time position. Exceptional part-time candidates (around 30 hours per week) will be considered.
Qualifications| Tohu Mātauranga
Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Finance or Accounting
Ngā Pūkenga | Experience and Skills
Previous experience in one or more of these areas a must:
Financial accounting and reporting
Management accounting and budgeting
System accounting
Analytical and process improvement
Knowledge and understanding of modern accounting systems such as Microsoft Business Central.
Experience in scientific research, biomedical research or a healthcare environment is preferential but not essential.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook and Word and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

Contribute towards the development of efficient and standardised finance operations procedures.
Support the following financial functions:
The annual budget and monthly forecasting.
Month-end processing and monthly financial reporting.
Year-end process for annual accounts and liaison with auditors
Completing ad hoc analysis for managerial decision-making.
Backup other team members when required.
