Overview:

Grubbs, Hoskyn, Barton & Wyatt, LLC, a Universal Engineering Sciences (UES) Company, has an opening in our Construction Services Department. UES is a nationwide leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, Building Code Compliance, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Building Envelope.

The Staff Engineer performs or assists in performing routine field tests, observations, and measurements. Under the supervision of the group manager, the individual helps to organize and carry out field, laboratory, and technical work for a variety of projects.

Job Responsibilities:
    • Performs field density testing of soil, asphalt and aggregate.
    • Performs field quality control tests on plastic concrete.
    • Performs routine laboratory testing of soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt and other construction materials.
    • Observes foundation installation operations.
    • Observes non-destructive tests on welded and bolted connections when certification is not required.
    • Observes reinforcing steel.
    • Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications.
Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
    • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI) designation preferred
    • ACI Field Level 1 preferred
    • Nuclear Safety Certified preferred
