Position Overview

Under moderate supervision, this role is tasked with executing standardized laboratory evaluations of construction and maintenance materials to guarantee compliance with relevant specifications and quality assurance standards.

Key Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are illustrative of the types of tasks performed. Additional related duties may be assigned as necessary. The Department reserves the right to modify job descriptions based on operational needs.
  • Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing.
  • Conduct evaluations on material samples.
  • Complete testing documentation accurately.
  • Perform essential mathematical calculations required for test reports.
  • Maintain general cleanliness and organization of the laboratory.
  • Support the training of technicians from other laboratories on testing methodologies within the area of expertise.
Qualifications

Education and Experience: Equivalent to a diploma from an accredited high school.

Skills: Basic mathematical proficiency and the ability to mentor others.

Physical Requirements: Capability to lift and transport 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment: Laboratory setting.

Certifications: Must achieve certification in Basic Aggregate Testing through the Technician Program at the Center for Training Transportation Professionals, or an equivalent certification within the first year of employment. Failure to secure certification within the specified timeframe may lead to disciplinary action.
