Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate electronic components and material selection criteria to ensure alignment with client specifications, operational lifespan, and environmental conditions.
  • Analyze screening, qualification, and restricted materials testing data for sourced components to confirm adherence to Source Control Documents, Military/Industry Standards, and Client Specifications.
  • Develop and implement component upscreening testing protocols, recommending modifications in the selection and application of electrical components or materials. Document and track qualification testing, review results, and provide final approval on qualified hardware. Create Scopes of Work for external testing.
  • Generate Non-Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPARS) and Non-Standard Material Part Approval Requests (NSMARS) for non-standard components, materials, and processes requiring client endorsement. Approve internal part substitution requests.
  • Lead initiatives to guarantee the reliability and maintainability of products, systems, processes, controls, and safety/security measures.
  • Collaborate with the program team in the design and evaluation of new products, modifications, and legacy systems.
  • Formulate engineering solutions to mitigate recurring failures and other issues impacting product performance, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct data analysis and review, including statistical process control, reliability modeling and forecasting, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), trend analysis, fault tree analysis, root cause analysis, and failure analysis.
  • Engage in Failure Review Boards (FRBs), producing detailed technical documentation, malfunction reports, troubleshooting procedures, stress analyses, and root cause/corrective action reports for the Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS). Maintain the FRACAS database and facilitate corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to lead root cause investigations and corrective actions at remote or on-site locations as necessary.
  • Participate in the Material Review Board (MRB) for non-conforming materials, assemblies, or procured items prior to acceptance testing or system integration.
  • Design and deliver Lessons Learned Training derived from Root Cause Investigations to team members.
  • Review project contracts, statements of work, specifications, and related requirements to ensure quality, reliability, and product realization are adequately addressed.
  • Work closely with the Project Management Office (PMO) and Manufacturing to assess Performance, Cost, and Schedule implications for nonconformances and corrective actions.
  • Create new documentation and propose revisions for use in High Reliability and Space Flight programs. Review documents for compliance with Military and Industry Standards and their impact on system reliability.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support material procurement and testing activities.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Space, Aerospace, or Military Reliability Engineering.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience in EEE part selection and qualification for military and space applications. Familiarity with radiation survivability analysis is advantageous. Candidates should be experienced in implementing and utilizing closed-loop failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action programs.
